When he got out of the Military, he discovered The Maverick Saloon in Norco, CA and studied line dance with Suzanne Guisewite which ignited a new passion for dance, and he frequented several popular Southern CA Country Saloons to expand his experience. In 2014, he met instructor Annemarie Dunn at Toby Keith’s in Rancho Cucamonga, CA and started studying with her there as well as Water Wheel in Norco, CA where he currently maintains a position on Annemarie's instruction team. Shelly started her dancing career at the age of 8 with ballet lessons in Arroyo Grande, CA. She continued her dance training while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, receiving a minor in dance and participating as a member of the college’s dance company. It wasn't until 2000, after visiting a friend near Nashville, Tennessee, that Shelly discovered her love for country music. In 2007, she reconnected with another friend who was taking Line Dance lessons. In that moment, Shelly decided to sign up for as many Line Dance lessons and Two-Step/Couples lessons that she could fit into her schedule. Shelly was able to combine her love for teaching dance and country music when she started getting requests to teach private lessons and was asked to substitute for her instructor. In 2008, Shelly co-choreographed a Line Dance called "Workin' for a Livin'" with her dance instructor and friend, Kimberly Gautney, who also teaches at THE RANCH! Shelly has a passion for helping others learn to dance and uses this passion to teach at THE RANCH on Saturdays at 6:30pm and 7:15pm!
